Hey Guys,

I woke up this morning and as I always do everyday I went downstairs to check my tank. That's when I saw my blue hippo tang with tons of black dots all over him. I almost had a heart attack. I immediately started to check all of them (my yellow, kole, fox face and scopas) and I think they are starting to show a few also on their fins. Guys PLEASE I've had this fish for 8 months and I haven't anything since. I don't have a QT tank not because I don't want it but just because there's no space in my house. Is that anything I can do in my display (a redsea 525xl) in order to save my tank?

They are eating, swimming. No change on behavior so far. I know you should do prazipro and follow up everyday. Since I don't a QT should I concern about the other fish? Corals? Inverts?

I'm still trying to understand how they got that. Could that be from my fresh live clams that I always get from my local seafood store to feed my copperband? I do freeze them anyways.

Please someone give a light.

Some pictures guys.

I'm not sure that you are dealing with black ich after seeing those photos.

The hippo is the only fish with spots?

Hippos are very hard to use as a gauge for disease. They love to hide/wedge in the rocks.

Yes the only one. The other tangs are spotless.

Indeed my blue tang even fat the way that she is. She always find a way to get inside the rocks.

If I were in your shoes I would just observe for now. Monitor spots daily. See if the increase/decrease. They look a bit large to be black ich. I think they are just from rubbing rocks or stress spots.

Thanks a lot. They are eating like crazy as usually they do. Super active. Also, I'm already getting ready for this QT tank.

I have the

Dr G's Antiparasitic Caviar

Can I feed them that just to be on the safe side?

If that actually helps.

I agree.

Also sometimes ich or velvet leaves smaller black spots before the fish’s mucous coat fills them to give them the white appearance. This is usually only seen for a day sometimes two.

Those are large spots though.

Regarding no room for quarantine, I’m just letting you know in today’s environment with every fish coming in with disease you’re playing with fire and should find a way to make room. It will burn you hard and probably soon. I know you don’t want to hear that I didn’t when I didn’t QT. Just trying to help.

Hey guys,

Just an update on my fish situation.

I was able to record (as best as I could) and I noticed that my yellow tang is showing some white spots now.

Any thoughts?

I did not see anything in the video.

I do have to ask. What kind of camera is that? The video is incredible.

Just worth mention that they are eating normally.

My blue Tang was scratching in the rocks yesterday and running to my cleaner shrimp several times. So I’m assuming something was bothering him.

Thanks guys
