Please Help Diagnosis White Spots on

I’m hoping someone can help determine what’s going on with my Montipora. I have been busy the past three days and didn’t really realize this until I took a closer look today. White spots and…what look like algae? I figure this is a long shot but is it expelling zooanthella in that brown spot? Everything else looks great including another Montipora.

Alkalinity has risen from 7.6 to 7.8 in the past two days. I have had this coral in this spot since October. It was the size of a quarter so it’s been doing great up until now.



Salinity: 1.026

KH: 7.8

NO3: 4.2

PO4: 0.01

Ca: 1420

Mg: 1450

Ph: Daily swings from 7.8 to 8.2

Light: AI Prime 16

Tank Age: 15 months



Should I dip it? Any suggestions?

I'd inspect and dip for montipora eating nudibranchs. They usually hide on the underside of the coral. Then redip every week or so until all the eggs are gone, if it is actually nudis.

Might want to check your potassium level. Low potassium can cause tissue loss in plating Montipora.
