Need help!!!! About a month ago I found the digital thermometer fell into the sump of my 55 gallon tank. I am unsure how long it was in there. I took it out and since then have done 2 50% wc and several 10% wc. All water parameters are good. Corals are not so great hammerhead, frog spawn and mushrooms were in the tank with 2 fish. After getting water parameters back put cleaner crew in 3 turbo snails died next day crabs fine. Weeklater tried 3 smaller snails died next day. I’mthinking substrates are containing metals from the digital thermometer. Any suggestionswould be greatly appreciated. Also runningchemipure elite.

Also just recently added a small zoanthid frag and a Star polyp frag which were good for 1 day and now closed up.

I'd run a metal removing media, such as a Boyd Poly-filter, Metasorb, or cuprisorb. And see how things do.

I was thinking the same thing. Do you believe that could be true about the metals getting into the substrate?

I highly doubt it was the thermometer. How long has your tank been running?

Has to be something else. Any metal object that falls into water doesn’t immediately start leaching metal to catastrophic levels. It’s just not plausible or factual. Even if it was a few days still not even remotely an issue.
