What should I do to not let this consume my coral

Its a small amount and easily manageable with and increased clean up crew and manual removal. You need to identify the source of the algae which typically is water parameters and or lighting that is causing the GHA.

I think my lights were too intense. And I also wasn't draining frozen food

Cutting lights back to 8 hours will help. My tanks 11 months and I still have patches of GHA. I just stick with a natural approach and no chemicals. The crew will work on it and eventually coraline will outcompete it to.
