Have some algae problem recently. My tank is fallow for about a month, i am getting some kind of hair algae all over my tank, its not green i would rather say grey or white with brownish colour in places. Got clean up crew in but none of them seem to be removing that. I have removed most manually but next day it all grew back. I am considering hydrogen peroxide now as this seems unstoppable. I dont really want to use it due to variety of corals in the tank. Nitrate is 0 and phosphate is 0. I do RO water for water changes. I ordered DI for an addition but dont think this will help as much. It went over my cleanup crew and grows on top of coraline algae. Please help identify and find remedy. I am desperate now. Its visible on pictures on all surfaces. Appears as slime but its not and as seen on one of my turbos it grows like hairs or brunches. Thanks

The simplest thing to try would be to keep your cleaning going and try feeding the tank a bit more to raise those nitrate and phosphate levels. Just go slowly. I had some what looks like the same growth in my tank with similar parameters. Fed the tank more and the white stuff went away with a bit of cleaning.

Were you able to figure this out? I'm having the same problem. 0 nitrates and 0 phosphates too.

Yes. I got myself a microscope and confirmed these are diatoms. Lowered down the lighting period a little, do water changes a bit more frequently then before. It just gies off itself. Do brush rocks every water change and refuce coral feed. That worked for me, not instantly of course. Very slow progress but it works.
