Looks like star coral -common on live rock but can also be either lepastrea or cyphastrea coral. Im thinking starI have this brown looking things on the live rock . They look like very small zoas . I used a toothbrush it looks like they are able to retrieve.![]()

They appear to open and close when touched.it is extremely hard to tell from the pictures but this looks like it could be sympodium. Are they polyps that open and close?
Are you thinking of clove polyps? (It's a name commonly used for a ton of different corals including Sympodium, which I've heard generally is less invasive than other types of clove polyps.)Second some type of Sympodium or some type of carpeting coral.... there's a name for them, they can choke out other corals? Anyone else confirm?
I don't think these are hydroids.I’m leaning sympodium as well but I’m second guessing my self and also possibly thinking a species of colonial hydroids (but most pics I’m seeing are thinner)
