Hi. I’ve recently noticed something irregular about my yellow tang. It is behaving normally. Can someone point me in the right direction regarding what this might be? Please see base of tail.

Well that's odd. I've never seen that on a YT before. It almost looks like mucus, but YT have "dry" skin.
How long have you had the fish?
How long has it had this discoloration?

Thanks for your response. I’ve had it for 2-3 years. I just noticed it yesterday.

Well, sorry, I'm stumped. In the absence of any other symptoms, or as long as the lesion isn't getting larger, I would suggest waiting it out. The more aggressive option would be to move the tang to a treatment tank and dose with a broad spectrum, gram negative antibiotic, but that is really a shotgun approach, and there is no way to confirm that this is even bacteria.

Maybe somebody else who has seen this will chime in....

I appreciate you chiming in, as always . I’ll wait it out and stay diligent on feeding.
