In Maryland north of Washington, DC. Never seen them before and just found one. So they are a “good guy” in reef tank?

Yes, good herbivore. Spelled stomatella.

They are everywhere ....

Between stomatella , the small snails with the long antenna sticking up through the sand , pods coming out my eyes .
But I haven’t seen micro brittle stars in awhile. .
They seam to come and go .
Pods disappear and stars show up
