Can someone please help me ID this ASAP? I would rather not guess. I noticed it yesterday but was out of town for a week

Thank you!

hi, hopefully just an injury, should heal on it's own,
any other signs of probs on it or other fish ?

wait for the experts to weigh in on that one, best wishes.

Looks like a result of scratch or injury and will require treatment using maracyn/maracyn 1 which is ethromyacin for 5 days in a separate quarantine system for 5 days. Added aeration recommended during treatment but not required

It doesn’t look like I’ll be able to get a hold of maracyn for a few days. I have metro/kana/focus, ruby reef rally, and possibly melafix on hand. Would any of those provide relief?

Injury is likely, thanks. Upon inspection, there’s some vermetid worms where the clown calls home.

Thank you.

None of those drugs would be especially helpful for eye injury/infections. Of the group, Kanaplex in the water (in a treatment tank though, not your display) would be the most likely to help.

Many eye issues like this heal on their own though.

For the sake of anyone that might find this helpful, I took the advice above (enthromyacin + hospital tank). After 1.5 days things look considerably better. Hopefully no vision lost. Will follow up once more assuming things go well.

I went with API’s version of the medication (E.M Enthromyacin) because I was able to get my hands on it more quickly, and things started to look worse.

This treatment seems to have worked, although the affected eye is still slightly cloudy like a possible cataract. This is improving slowly. I had to return to display because I was leaving town.

I considered a second dose, however I have a separate fish with a possible internal parasite and need to prioritize that.
