I have noticed this for about a week growing on my liverock. It's white and glossy. At first I chalked it up to a sponge, but it's very glossy. I would appreciate any help.

Bubble algae. Try to scrape off without popping. I generally do it while siphoning water out just in case it pops.

It will release spores and potentially start growing everywhere if it is in fact bubble algae. (That's what I've heard but never experienced a drastic growth as my emerald crabs keep it at bay) The real question is how do emerald crabs eat it and pop it without the same consequence? It's all hear say until experience it first hand in my personal opinion.

I thought all bubble algae was green. Never knew it could be white. Yeah, I will hurry and get it out as I don't want anymore. Thanks for the help!

I have never seen white bubble algae, was more of an answer to what happens. Idk what it is honesty. Unless it's the husk of the algae and it's already popped? No clue honestly.

The larger they get the more translucent and whitish they appear.
There may b different strains of the algae but I've seen it look like that before...

It's a little hard to tell but I'm fairly sure that is not bubble algae. It might be sponge or a tunicate? I think I see a siphon hole. Does it retract if touched?
