so I had to remove all my fish due to an ich out break. While doing so I had to remove the rock from my tank after putting it back I noticed these things on some of the rocks where they where previously burried in the sand. Anyone know what they are?

I take it that is a good thing? I heard they absorb selicates and I have been battling a diatom outbreak
