So its purple. It has bright green mouth.
A few of them seem to have a lovely green ring around the mouths too
There is a pic of a green implosion paly next to it for size comparison.
I'm new to this hobby. Please please dont laugh at my substrate. I'm swapping it out as soon as I can budget for it. I just spent my budget on 13kg of tonga plate rocks.

I think they’re a strain of people eaters, and don’t be embarrassed about the substrate. It could actually work in your favour as the zoas grow out they can attach to the smaller rock rubble and you can frag them easier. You might want to look up zoa pox though it appears the middle of the colony might be suffering from it.

I saw somewhere else the people eaters have green mouth too.
Zoa pox sounds ominous. I did see some the middle ones looked worse for wear.
I will check that up. Is it treatable do you know?
I think theres about 60 polyps or so on the rock I could just cut the rock in half or something and throw away the weird ones?

There’s a treatment for it but I can’t remember the name of it, cutting the affected ones might be more work then trying to treat it but you’d have to find someone who has more experience with it to advise. Sorry..

Yup, they're zoas
Thanks jekyl

Thanks for noticing. I knew there were some amongst the colony that never really opened and seemed worse for wear. Now I know what it is at least. The google machine does say theres a treatment for it!!!! All is not lost.

Furan is the treatment according to the interweb. I been googling. Zoa pox is actually scaryyyy. It said noone knows what causes it and it could kill them all.

I only have this colony and three frags as I'm just starting out. And two of those are palys which can probably catch it. :(

Yes that’s the stuff, as long as the other frags aren’t right next to it they probably won’t, I think stress generally causes it, do you have much flow on them? I’ve heard better flow can help because it keeps them clean. I’m in Canada so I don’t have access to furan but I’d try it if I was experiencing the same thing and could buy it.
