Hello Fellow Reefers,
Please help identify this algae, tank has been up and running for about 6 months, cycled with mostly cured bleached dry rocks and some from old tank. It’s brown/reddish and cover most of the rocks, beginning phase is like a blanket that covers the rocks then becomes wavey hair like. I’ve tried siphoning them out but comes back in a day or two, also increased flow but doesn’t seem to help either. Please help!

Thanks in advance!!!

Can you post some pics with white lights...can't see anything with the blue light pics?

Also listing your most recent testing results is very helpful as well...at a minimum, definitely your NO3 and PO4 results.

If it is red and starts like a blanket on the rocks, then this sounds like cyano...especially if you are able to easily siphon it out or blow it off the rocks with a turkey baster, etc...

Thanks, will get some new pics and do some testing. I’m hoping it’s cyano not dino.
