Please help identify this on new coral frag.

Hello everyone, so I got this frag recently and it was dipped in coral rx as I always do, what are these brown things on it, they aren't bothered by light or by moving the frag arround but they retract at night. It doesn't look like aptaisia to me but if it is please tell me so I can burn that frag asap. Thanks , and before someone tells me, yes I know my tank is currently overrun by bubble algae, me and my crabs are working on it

Candy cane coral is the main one and the little hitchhikers are what I always called brown star polyps. They can be very invasive given the opportunity.

The looks like the dreaded "Blue Clove Polyp". Its just not the blue one. Its the brown one that is more evassive and tolerent to getting rid of it. If I were you. I would get that coral out of your aquarium. ASAP.

I just had to redo my whole tank because of that crap. Run forest Runnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

If you have a qt tank. Get it in there now. I tried multiple ways to killing that stuff and none were effective after it got established. It might be easy to eradicate since its on a small coral. Just ensure you dont try any method while its in the display as it will spread spores and its all over but the crying from there. LOL.

Wow ok, its going to trash, at least it was a cheap frag. My dream fish that shipped with that coral says thanks everyone.

Brown Star Polyps. Have many of them in my tank that came as hitchhikers but I iust leave them be. But in your case, please do scrap them off as soon as possible. They will overgrow and irritate your candy cane.

Yeah I decided to just get rid of the whole frag, not risking it for a low value coral.

Umm get rid? As in throw away or given away? Cause brown star polyps arent difficult to remove. Just a small pen knife or smth to just. Scrap them off is sufficient.
