I have two critters that just popped up on one of my rocks. The first I thought might be aptasia, but was hoping to get clarification. The second looks to be some kind of barnacle. I know the aptasia is bad, but not sure on the barnacles.

Please advise. My tank is very new...about 2 months old.

1 pic Majano 2nd pic is too blurry for positive ID

majano? do you have any tips on how to take better pictures? all i have tried to take have been awful.

thanks for the id on the majano...i've since looked them up and will be removing him asap. the second picture, i'm sure is some kind of barnacle, pyramid shaped, black and white, little "tongue" sticking out like a string

Limpets mostly feed on algae, moving slowly and scraping the rock with "teeth" that are among the hardest substances produced by an animal.

I think I've heard of one or two being implicated in coral damage, but I welcome the ones in my tank.

Bruce is correct those get a taste for sps...most keyhole limpets do....
