white spots are showing up on this guy. All other guys in the tank don't seem to have anything yet.
I think its ich but would like other opinions.. He eating good and swimming good..

thanks

Looks like the start of velvet. If so acting quickly is your best bet. Move everything to a quarantine and treat with copper for 30 days

After 2 hrs I have finally moved the little naso, yellow tang, clown, 2 green chromis, a clown, a black mouth chromis and royal granma to a 10 gal QT with a heater and a air stone filter. I do have a 40g but have to dig it out. is it safe right now to dose cupramine without a copper test kit? No lfs in town carry them so ill have to get one from amazon or something.

It's safe to do the initial dose as the directions recommend. For the second dose I would make sure you have a test kit. My other recommendation is to break the total drops needed into several small doses throughout the day.

I have given the initial does short a few drops. Next dose is tomorrow. I'm trying to round up a copper test kit for tomorrow with not much luck.

I have a copper test kit on order soonest I could get one is Friday. Would it be ok to keep the cupramine at the initial does until then? or should I add a couple drops?
Also does copper mess up the ammonia test?

should I be taking the fish out and giving them a FW every couple days to help?

Yes, copper will mess up most all ammonia test kits. The seachem ammonia alert badge is recommended by most of what I read here (I’m using one currently in hospital tank also).

How big of a tank, and how many drops have you added so far?

Yes, you’ll need an ammonia alert badge to monitor ammonia. If you want to kill two birds with one stone, if the QT is at least 20 gallons, changing out 5g of water with 5-7 drops added to the new water should bump it up for you a bit and won’t put you over...

Stole the ammonia badge out of the DT and put it in the QT. Right now all my guys are in a 10g I will be moving them to a 40g in the next couple days. Need to get some equipment. So far I have added 18 drops for Initial dose.

You might actually be pretty close to therapeutic already, if the fish seem ok ... I would just hold it there until you get the checker.

If you need to change water due to ammonia before then, I’d add no more than 7 drops in a 5-gallon bucket.

Awesome thank you for your help. Fish are looking good. Fire fish looked to get worse yesturday but looking better today. The naso tang is almost cleared up and doesnt look like any of the other fish have been infected. Is there any way to tell forsure if its velvet or ich? Will either die off quickly?

Ok so bit of an update. I have had the fish in a safe level of cupramine for the required 14 days and switched them to fresh water in a new tank.. they have been in new water for about 10 days now and I noticed some white spots on my royal grama. My green chromis are acting weird. One is hanging out in a corner and the other is doing the indy 500 around the tank.. nothing noticeable on any of the fish but the royal... should I dose copper again?

The link above says 30 days in copper. 14 days seems to be too short, so I'd suspect a recurrence of the velvet. I'd put them back in copper ASAP.

I was reading on another thread. If you switch to a sterile tank 14 days is ok same tank is 30 days.. does this have truth?
