Looks like result of scrape or abrasion. Treatment is maracyn 1 in a separate tank preferably

Hi Carl, how long has the trigger had the eye issues? It looks kind of chronic. Can the fish see to eat?

Been a few months I guess he's eating somewhat fat had trouble catching him in the DT all this time I have him in 30 gallon tank alone and been treating Maracyn Two last couple of days, any advice Maracyn doesn't seem to help any yet

You want Maracyn 1 (ethromyacin). Maracyn 2 ideal for bacteria issues)

Thank you
I agree - try Maracyn 1, it will take 5 days to stop the infection, and then some time after that to heal fully. You can use both at the same time. That is, assuming this is a bacterial issue. Flukes also cause cloudy eyes, but usually, not with exophthalmia (popeye). Mycobacteria can also cause chronic popeye, but sadly, there is no cure for that.

Im going to re-treat fish again, eyes gotten somewhat better the directions on Maracyn box stated to do a 25% water change on day 6. then retreat on day 7 for 5 days is it necessary you think to do water change or just continue treatment. Thanks
I would do the partial water change as they recommend. You should also check the ammonia level in the tank - sometimes prolonged erythromycin treatments can harm the beneficial bacteria.
