Please help me dial in my CalRX

Reborn melts at about 6.7/6.8
I would raise your carx internal ph to that.
Do keep your co2 bubble count at 30bpm.
I think you might find 60 bpm to be more inline for your demand but let's walk up to it.
You will find once you get your co2 bpm and your effluent at 20/25 and can't keep up with alk, your bpm and your effluent will have to be raised linear.

Am I crazy… isn’t a lower PH more acidic? Shouldn’t it be melting faster at 6.5?

Yes it will melt faster at 6.5 but you don't want it turning to mud either.
My Arm melts at 6.4 slowly. Maybe 1 to 2 inches a month in a 6" cylinder. That's all that's needed.

Right, but my problem is that I’m not seeing any melt at 6.5, and it’s only putting out the 15.7 dkh
 
This makes no sense. If his ph was in fact 6.5 then his dkh would be much higher than 15 with reborn. You are suggesting that he raise his ph in order to lower his dkh?

I'm saying to prevent his reborn to turning to mud, raise the ph.

Once the ph is correct in the reactor, then adjust the flow and bpm.
In other words, that ph seems really low for the media. I'd rather see him walk it down. He may need more contact time than lower ph.

But then that will just alter the “correct” PH. Maybe this is best left to the people who operate their carx on a controller. I’m all confused. Sheez I thought using a ph probe as a controller was supposed to be the simpler approach.

But with a dkh 15 that would be impossible. In order for that to happen, your dkh would have to be MUCH higher. In a CaRx, the ph is what determines one’s dkh.

What determines alk in a carx is the amount of co2 it takes to disolve the media in question and distribute it back into the system at a controlled speed thus maintaining steady alk levels.
Ph meters are used to turn the co2 on and off which is just another weak link in that type of system.
In your system the co2 is going on and of throughout tbe day. Simple enough. You will need more co2 to get the alk you need.

The question and weak link is, is the ph reading really 6.4 or 6.8.
No way to tell.

10bpm is not much co2 for a system your size. Check dkh in the morning.

Meh, the probe is new and I’ve never had noticeable issues with my other PH probe over the years.

Either your ph probe or your Hanna checker solution is faulty . Has to be one or the other. I just haven’t heard of reborn media dissolving that slowly at a PH of 6.5.

I'll see if I can find some calibration fluid somewhere..

With your situation, increasing bph only impacts the speed the pH drops when the bubble dose cycles on.

You need to increase the flow through your reactor to increase the addition of dissolved arragonite (measured as tank dKh) to raise your tanks alkalinity.

I turned off the controller - it is now just monitoring.

But with that said, you're saying that if I were to have the controller in place that I need to increase the speed that I'm pumping it into my tank? Others have said this will ower the DKH of the effluent.

It will, inside the chamber. Then the controller kicks on, adds CO2 and it drops. It will cycle on and off more often. If you shut the controller off, you need to monitor effluent, and to get that to deliver more alk you have to increase CO2. If you go too low (ph drops inside the reactor) and media will melt. Increasing flow, keeping pH steady (with the controller) will allow you to increase delivery of alk.

Thousand ways to skin the cat, be careful, report back along the way and hopefully the crowd will deliver you the results you are seeking.

Increased flow= lower dkh.
Increased bpm=higher dkh.
Low flow and high bpm = high dkh.

What I'm saying is,
Get the ph (If you think the probe is working) to 6.8.
Check effluent after a day.
Low effluent alk= raise your bubble count.
Check after a day.
After effluent is good, check tank alk, if it's in an okay range, check again after a day. Did it go up or down?
If it's not in a good range, your better off adjusting with a solution.
THEN, if your alk is going down in the tank, up the flow thru your calrx. But remember, more flow thru the reactor, more bpm with the co2.

Edit: I use a controller but it never shuts off the co2 cuz it's dialed in so close.
