Please help me figure out coral placement

Hello everyone

My name is Adam and I have a 28 gallon JBJ intermediate (LED) with an aquamax hob-1, 35 lbs live rock, and 35 lbs live sand. My tank is only about 3 months old and I am learning through trial and error. Yesterday I participated in Cherry Corals live coral sale and MUST ADMIT I went a little crazy purchasing about 23 frags.

ISSUE

• I need advice on where to place my frags when the come in the mail. I will get them in about a week as I am waiting to get a new light fixture from reef radiance (DM-132e LED 144 watt) and it should arrive next week.
• Light/ flow advice is welcome BUT SO IS specific advice on where to put based on my pics (included as follows)

Current Stock of fish (not sure if it effects coral placement)

• Yellow coris wrasse
• 2 tank raised false percs
• gumdrop clown goby
• yellow neon goby

The acans in your first and second post can go on the sand bed or low on the rock work (the rocks near the sand; that lower "shelf" would be fine).

Same story for the acans in your second post.

The frogspawn in the second post can be attached on the rock work mid-way in the tank. Make sure it is NOT blasted with flow, however. You don't want the polyps to get torn by the skeleton.
The candy-canes also in your second post can go just about anywhere (height wise) in the tank, but make sure they're not blasted with flow either. I'd put them mid-way in the tank.

The SPS in your third post should go in the upper portion of the tank; at or near the top is fine.
Be a bit careful where you put the encrusting montis (the last two pictures in this post); they will encrust over the rock work and may encrust right over other corals in their path. Leave them some room where you put them.
The lepto (orange guy) in the third post is NOT an SPS however, and needs to go somewhere low in the tank on the rock work. High light would bleach it.

The ric in your fourth post should be low on the rock work or on the sand is fine.
The lobo also in the forth post can go just about anywhere low to mid way in the tank; on the sand bed in decent light would also be fine.
The blasto in the fourth post needs low-ish light and medium flow. Low to mid on the rock work for it.
And lastly, the two zoanthid frags could go just about anywhere, so long as the light is decent. Too low light and they'll start to "stretch" and get "leggy", however.

thanks a lot for the advice... I am thinking of putting all my acans on the lower shelf to make almost like a colored "matt" or acans It is also hard to see, but on the right side, the rocks make about 2 small shelfs and I have a small frag of Zoa's there now, am thinking of making both of those shelfs Zoa's.

I appreciate the info as I would hate to buy all of these nice frags from Cherry Corals and then have them die.

The green candy cane I'd advise you to place up top with a lot of water flow. I'd place the montipora sunset and the tyree montipora sunset towards the middle with a lot of flow they'll grow quick. It looks like you have a stylophora and I'd place that one in middle because they don't love strong light only moderate and strong to moderate flow as well. The frogspawn place towards the middle and down giving it a low to moderate flow. You'll have to move that guy around before you find his perfect spot. The palythoas and the zoanthids place in the middle with moderate flow and a lot of place to grow

Thanks for the advice everyone. I received my corals today and placed them per your advice (I think). Hopefully they survive as it is my first foray into this many corals and for sure my VERY FIRST SPS. I have included a few pics and I would love if anyone looking would look and see if they agree with the placement or have any suggestions on moving any of the corals.

Kind of risky to put so many in a small tank at once. Just watch closely for any die off. you should have some ammonia lock ready in case you see a frag or 2 die. Its seems prob 10% of frags dont make it just due to stress or inability to adapt to the flow/lighting. Keep us updated.
