I am building a 40g breeder and will be transfering my rock/corals (mostly sps and lps) from my 30g setup. I am looking to get a new skimmer since I will be creating a new, larger sump. Any ideas? I'm thinking about a skimmer that can handle 125-200g. Money of course is a factor as well. If anyone has a used one for sale let me know. Thanks in advance.

Well..what are you expecting to spend on this skimmer?

Are you looking for one to go into the sump or a HOB?

i ran a swc 160 om my 40b. i think its really an overkill, but i also didnt have an ato or a skimmer chamber either so it was not running all the time like it should

I'm looking for an in sump skimmer...thanks for the help so far. keep the good options coming.

+1 for the SWC bmk 150 from reeffiltration, 700lph air, $199, and super quiet!!
or for a little more, the SWC 160 cone for $275

both of those skimmers could filter a 150g sps tank,
but would still work great on your 40g

What's the difference between the conical filters vs cilindrical filters?

Check out lukes thread... The cone out did the budget skimmer.... Or you could even get a avast diy cone kit!!! That would be my first choice since it's fun building things and the skimmer performs well...
I'm running it on my frag tank right now which is about 100gal and it performs really good....;)
