I can't get it off guard as soon as I shine light on it it retracts kinda fastAlthough I can’t specifically ID the worm, I highly doubt it poses any threat to your dragonet. If it concerns you, perhaps you can catch it off guard and remove it![]()
Thanks but unfortunately there is like 3 or more of these worms in the tank and they are all in different rocks none of them are in the same rock.Is there any way you can remove that one rock that it's in? I would wait until I see it again just to make sure it hasn't moved to another rock. Unfortunately I can't help you with an ID either, I have never dealt with that worm before. I also don't think it will bother your Dragonet as they are fast if they need to be and will be out of reach with a quick flip of thier tail. . Good luck to you!
Ok thanks!! Have u had to deal with them at all? Do you know what they do in the tank? This is the very first time I have done a salt water tank well I guess u can say this is our 2nd tank but I just want to make sure it's nothing that will harm anything in the tank?Looks like it might be a peanut worm. Won't harm your dragonet.
99% of worms are harmless in a reef tank. They’re beneficial for the most part. It does seem to resemble a peanut worm but hard to tell for sure. I wouldn’t sweat this one at all.Ok thanks!! Peanut Worm | Melev's Reef
One tiny creature that is often asked about is the Peanut Worm. It can extend out several inches as it seeks food late at night. Once it detects any light at all, it will quickly retract within itself (like laundered socks turned inside out) until it is deep within its protective nook. Once...www.melevsreef.com
Yeah no worries, I am definitely not a worm expert...lol I see everyone is saying Peanut Worm, I looked those up and it looks like they can get BIG! I'm sure the bigger they get the easier it will be to catch them because they will have less and less places to hide. Seem like everyone is saying they are harmless so that a good thing! Thanks but unfortunately there is like 3 or more of these worms in the tank and they are all in different rocks none of them are in the same rock.
