For awhile now in my tank I have had this algae that is growing like crazy. I am able to scrub it off so I have been doing that to slow it down but it would be better to know what it even is so I can try some other methods to treat.

What are your tank's parameters, especially nitrate and phosphate? Have you tried a 3-5 day black out?

I think I'd try the Vibrant stuff on this situation as well. That's a first from me, huh @saltyfilmfolks ? :) This isn't a normal algae infestation.

Somebody Jacked your Account! WHO IS this REALLY???

An no. That's not good. Pretty though.

Im thinking ill go blackout, vibrant, and if worse come to worse this bad boy is getting rebuilt. I just can't figure out for the life of me what this stuff is!

Id look into local and caribbean flora guides.

isn't this the strongest example of a chrysophytes invasion ever posted in the history of hd reefing invasion posts

:)

quit playin' around and buy some 35% peroxide and eye protection and lets play hardba

the whole tank including the sandbed would be rinsed, scraped, flipped and cleaned per the skip cycle tank cleaning threads, so that when reassembled without a recycle, the tank is free of the invader except for microscopic leftovers we cannot see due to the excellence of takedown cleaning.

once fully cleaned, before putting rocks back in, dump some 15% peroxide you diluted and made using distilled water and 35% P right across all cleaned rocks let set in air about 3 mins. rinse off rocks with clean new saltwater. put back together the whole tank with a 100% water change and prepare to reacclimate fish from their holding container.

rinse that sandbed out with hot blasting tap water, then saltwater at the end, per our sand rinse thread.

reassemble the tank in the rinsed, and peroxided condition and if they start to come back buy a UV sterilizer off amazon that is rated for double your tank, and install the UV when the tank is made free again of any returning chrysos. due to not being anchored these aren't the worst invaders we can get. you've been skipping the sterilization step either provided by UV or the peroxide and massive cleaning.

I bet the sandbed if appli here harbors lots of chryso, for rebounds after rocks are topically cleaned but not sterilized for the invader. none of this w cause a cycle, its how I handle my pico on a normal Tuesday./

Update on my infestation, IT IS GOING AWAY THANKS TO VIBRANT WOOO. For real after one dose this is where I'm at with it not to mention how amazing clear my water is. Thanks for suggesting it @saltyfilmfolks
