Hi everyone,
My File fish of 4 years is doing loop de loops while swimming. All the regular culprits hv been ruled out. Fish is swimming vigorously and looks to be very healthy. No external signs of fighting or bullying. All other fish, 10 abouts are doing great. It’s been awhile since I have been on R2R so I am not up to speed with disease identification.
Thank you for taking the time to read.

Sorry Sharkbait. I will not be able To. He is now between rocks. The only thing deleterious towards tank that has been happening is coral warfare. My chalice and acro were coexisting until they were not. Causing a slight meltdown. Adjacent corals got hit and some softies were definitely not happy. Other than that things hv been stable for at least 3 years. Thanks

Please post a video under white lighting via you tube. Can be injury, age, illness, etc.

Agree - we really need a video to try and diagnose this (and even then we might not be able to tell much).

Is the filefish still eating? If so, the problem is probably neurological. If it isn't eating, the looping could just be a symptom of it being moribund, actively dying.

Agree seems like a neurologic problem - or a toxin (in the case that the 'coral warfare' you're talking about is not 'coral warfare'

So he moved but still in rocks. I can see him well with big magnifier. He is lying on his side. Dorsal fin is moving rhythmically and eyes are alert. He was looking around and at me.

so hard to say. can you do another video

Thanks for all the help. I will absolutely try to a video. He was eating well until 2 days ago. I do have a fox face rabbit fish which has no problem stinging as my purple tang can attest. In the fight for tank boss he was stung 3 different times. Tail, eye, etc.. They turned white and we’re not capable of moving.

Maybe old age?
Reported life span is only 4-6 years for smaller species in reef aquaria.

Well he succumbed. He was certainly in that area of life. Sorry I was not able to get a video All. Thank you everyone for your help.
