Please Help Me Understand Bacteria Infections

What is it?

How does it Spread?

Does it only affect certain Corals?

I recently had all my Acans Die Off and someone asked me if the skeleton was pink instead of white. I said it was Pink but just thought it was Algae growing over the skeleton. He said it was a Bacteria Infection.

But why did my other (Non-Acan) Corals not die?

Does one Bacteria Infection only affect this Coral while another affects only this Coral. etc. (Kind of like there are Nudibranchs that only eat Zoanthids and there are Nudibranchs that only eat Montipora).

Or can a Bacteria Infection wipe out an Entire Aquarium of Coral.

Are some Corals more prone to it than others?

Are some Corals immune to it?

Any information would be greatly appreciated as I am very interested in learning as much as I can about this topic.

Does the Bacteria have to come from another Coral or can it come from say new live rock or a new bag of synthetic salt that you just mixed up?

revhtree you must be able to find someone to help with this Issue
I also find this to be true with anemones that are just shipped in and wind up in stores
I treat with ciprofloxancin or doxycycline seems to help with anemones due to poor shipping
they will last 5 days and then turn into cotton candy and melt (I wish someone would come up with a answer)
I was told it might be poor collecting or shipping

In my case It showed up on a frag that I picked up from a sketchy LFS back home, Spread from that zoa frag to others. One dip wont completely irradicadicate the bacterial infection on zoas, Next setup will definatly include a quarantine tank for corals.
