Please Help Me With Designing My New Aquarium

Hey so I am creating a new saltwater aquarium. I have been doing a ton of research on what to put, but reading about it is nothing like the real experience. That is why I am here. I had a fish tank when I was younger that was much smaller. However my dad setup most of it and it was much more basic. So what I would like you guys to do is to point out possible problems with my idea. Also, please recommend fish or other saltwater creatures that would work benoficially to my tank. By the way this is just what it is going to be like, I am still looking at different options and have not purchased these fish/tank stuff yet. So lets get right into it!

Specs:
The fish tank is 60 gallons approximently 2 feet by 2 feet by 2 feet. It has a built in filtration system and pump. It also has above lights without a cover. These previous things were designed to work together for an optimal experience. Finally, it has an auto feeder attached to the glass.
I plan to put live rock in it with sand.

Saltwater Fish/Creatures:
2-3 Fire Shrimp
2-3 Blue legged hermit crabs
1 Lawnmower Blenny
1 Sailfin Tang
1 Yellow eye Tang
1-2 Blue Tang
2+ Black Clownfish
Possibly other types of Clownfish
Assorted Coral
Anemone
Assorted smaller fish

Also right now I am wanting more information on possible conflict in the beginning not about the future size of a Tang. I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

You can't have those tangs in a tank that size period. If you really want to get a tang I would suggest a kole tang, they are small, beautiful, and graze on algae! But don't worry, you still have a HUGE selection of fish! I would start with two clownfish, a clean up crew, and go from there.

Since I’m a research nut lol I can assure you with others your tank is way way too small for any tang, small to large. Having the idea you will just upgrade when they get bigger is not a good idea. Moving them into a bigger tank can actually stress them out even more if it has been their home for quite some time. In addition moving a saltwater tank is not something quick and easy.

As a beginner, I would take it slow and start with something a little easier. Tangs are not for beginners, they can stress too easily and catch ick and that’s not good. Please remeber everyone here wants you to be successful and for you to love this hobby. But please think about the live critters also, in that their life is valuable also.

Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have, and I’m sure anyone else would be more than happy to help as well. Just take it slow and easy at first this is a very slow moving paced hobby. Bad things happen super fast in this hobby if your not careful. I would not suggest any fish at all at least until you tank has completely cycled. Sometimes this takes 3-4 weeks.

I am sorry but I have to agree that your fish list just does not work for a 60 gallon tank period. That is a good stocking list for a 180g min. You are setting up a fighting arena..... there is no way that they would get along in a tank that small. They need their room from each otherand they need room to swim....you would have a disaster on your hands.

Gallons is one of the WORST ways to determine if you can keep a certain fish. A 2 foot tank is not nearly enough swimming room for tangs.

I currently have a 2*2 cube and would never get one again. Absolutely the worst size tank I've ever owned.

Please take the advice you're receiving. You did ask for it. You are setting up for serious failure with that stock list.

Not sure whee you did your research but I've never seen a sales site saying a 2 foot tank is ok for a tang

I know that even though i'm new. but don't always trust what you read. like Petco for instance. they have a yellow eye kole tang. 55 g. min. I think is completely wrong. link

You obviously haven't been doing "a lot of research" because you won't find anywhere that says 60g is okay for those fish.

I might not be experienced but I do know that you need to keep your hands off that blue hippo tang. They grow a foot long, they need a minimum of 150 gallons, they are wild caught, sometimes aggressive, and finally tangs are illness magnets. From what I just saw it doesn't seem like you're an experienced aquarist. Also, avoid saying 1-2 in your plants. One or two? Pick one. Finally, since you're also a beginner, step back from the anemone. Look into something more forgiving like a zoanthid.

Dude, don't refuse this advice. Where are you doing your 'lots of research'? It doesn't seem like it's accurate.

Ultimately everyone here wants you to be successful. Sometimes advice comes hard, but sometimes best taken.

Everyone is being a little aggressive because we want to see you succeed. Also we all care about our fish "pets" and don't want to see any mistreated, I am still new and have had great success by listening to the advise given to me. Reef tanks are a slow process start small and be patient if you still want a tang look for a larger tank in the future.
