Hello guys ,

so my tank is Running now since 4 days and I made Test with the Red Sea marine care test kit
This are the results :

Kh- 7
PH - 8,2
No2 - 0.05
No3 - 2
Nh3/nh4 - 0.2

for ammonia I’m not sure if it’s 0.2 maybe someone can identify better ?

Are these results good or bad or is anything fishy about them ? As I said tank is running since 4 days and I am dosing bacteria from fauna marin !
Thank you very much !

What else you got in your tank right now? What size? What everything!! Looks like 0.2 to me, but I'll let others chime in as well. Could just be your tanks has started to cycle. Are you familiar with the nitrogen cycle? dKh is a little low

Your nitrate level is not true. With 0.05 in nitrite in the water - it will give a false Nitrate reading. Ammonia readings in such low concentrations is also questionable. But it is total ammonia (both the toxic NH3 and non toxic NH4). Please use the tool in this thread to valuate how much toxic NH3 you have (hint - you do not have a problem with toxic levels)

Sincerely Lasse

I got caribsea life rocks and live sand and filled up with salt water mixed with Tropic Marin Pro salt at 35ppt . I got the tank running without slimmer yet just return pump filter socks and a Nero 5 .
yes i know it needs to cycle but I’m not quit sure about how to know if it’s cycling or doing nothing .
KH for tropic Marin is about 7-8 Kh I think

Thank you for your reply ! Anything I should do ?

Thanks for your reply ! So what should I do about the Nitrite ? Everything is done with Red Sea Test kit .
Thank you

Seems normal to me. You could just be having an ammonia spike as per the Nitrogen Cycle.

Thank you for your reply ! And what about the No2 and No3 ? When will I see difference and in what way ? That I know it’s cycling the right way ? And sry my tank has 300 Liters
Thank you

Ammonia shows first, then Nitrites (NO2) then Nitrates (NO3). Need to wait out the NO2 and when cycled water change to remove the NO3.
Thank you very much for your reply ! So I’m good with 10% weekly water changes after 1 week ?

This chart explains a little

I waited about 6 weeks before doing a water change. I didn't turn the lights on as I didn't want any nuicance algae. After 6 weeks I added some inverts like snails and crabs...a week after that I added my first fish. I haven't (and hope I never do) had an ammonia spike since. I take things slow, which can be really difficult but better in the long run. Right now my Nitrates are at 10, but all living things seem to thrive with that. Wait it out, you'll thank yourself in the long run!

Have fin (fun)!

Thanks man ! How often should I test ? Every day or every other day ?

There are different approaches, I personally only test for ammonia every few days, when it starts lowering I start testing Nitrites. After the Nitrites are gone I start with Nitrates.

Ok Great Thank you so much !

Honestly I tested quite a lot in the beginning. But I made the MISTAKE of using API lol...to I technically didn't actually TEST (with decent tests) until like the 3 month mark. I wouldn't recommend that, I'd just recommend NOT to ever use API LOL.

What are your other parameters? Salinity and temp?
