A few days ago my clown had a blood blister under her chin. The next day it was gone but there's a hole in its place. Her jaw is open. She eats but she's back to laying on the bottom of the tank. She's not too good. What's wrong?? Anyone!!

Hard to say but maybe a parasite. Is this the only fish? Can you feed her some food with metroplex and kanaplex in it?

We can't really say without additional information. I know pictures are tough to get, but without good pictures under white light, we would all be guessing. A short video is also helpful. Here is a link to background information that is needed in order to resolve fish disease issues:

Thanks,

Jay

Before doing any treatment OR guessing, can you provide a pic or two under white lighting for further assessment?
metro will not help with a hole in face as described. Do not add Kanaplex to food - it is best absorbd in quarantine

Certainly kanaplex can be added to food for treatment if desired. It is written on the seachem website for proper use. It can also be used via QT tank absorption as an alternative too.

Im referring to feeding Kanaplex and Metro at same time added to foods. If fish is NOT eating , kanaplex can only be absorbed which is typical use. They do have a food recipe added to pellets.

Adding antibiotics to food, as most people do it, won't work unless by pure chance. The issue is that Kanamycin needs to be dosed at the proper rate - in this case, 50mg per kg of fish weight. Adding some Kanamycin to the food and then feeding some of that to the fish give a completely uncontrolled dose. We have a medicated food calculator here, but it is complicated....but this is a case where it must be complicated because of all of the variables that need to be controlled.

The Seachem web site doesn't explain it very well. Even if the dose in the food is known (what is a "scoop"?) there is no indication of how much to feed the fish. Feed the fish 1 gram of food or 2 grams of food DOUBLES the amount of drug the fish gets.

Here is my article on medicated foods:

I agree with your opinion but if you have one fish in QT and let's say directions per your dosage calculation say add 5mg of medication to food and the fish eats most or all of the food can you not assume at that point the fish got a proper dose?
