I have a fluval canister filter and the motor just crashed! The thing isn't even a year old yet! What am I suppose to do? I can't afford another filter...

Take it apart and clean it, make sure you have no debris in it.... and for now you should aerate the tank... canister filters aren't really recommended in the hobby because of stuff like this, i hope you get it fixed though!

Well...they aren't recommended cuz they are a little hard to keep clean....something that's not a huge worry on a typical freshwater tank.

But do clean it....something being wedged in somewhere it shouldn't be is the most likely situation. Fluvals don't usually die early.

If you have a problem beyond cleaning, contact your dealer or Fluval ASAP to see if they can help.

Thanks for the fast replies! I did clean it as soon as I noticed it! It still is not working! I only have a nano 10 gal with lots of live rock! No live stock yet! Been busy with Christmas things! What does aerate mean?

aerating is when you get a small air pump with airline tubing and an air stone and add oxygen to the water that way so that nothing asphyxiates.. as long as you have some water movement everything should be ok..
