Thats why you want your nutients slightly elevated....not high. Also, algae issues stem from an unstable tank most of the time when it outcompetes your bacteria for ammonia.
With a strong bacteria colony in a stable tank, you should have a bit of excess nutrients for the corals to use as they please and very little nusiance algae that should be taken care of by the daily landscaping crew.
Instability is where excess ammonia is feeding the algae, your bacteria cant colonize fast enough, and your nutrients are near zero because the bacteria cant produce nitrate fast enough with such a low food source.
