Hello all, Ok this is my first saltwater tank. I have had freshwater for years and wanted a new challenge. Ok on to the point I've got a new tank. Put in live sand and live rock mixed up some water. And started to let the tank cycle, its been up for a week. Today I noticed some life just wondering what it is and if i should leave it be or remove it.

Best I can tell some sort of tube worm and a purple polyp of some kind.

The first are some little feathers. The second, maybe some sort of macro algae? I'm not positive, almost looks like the strings of pearls?

Agree with above that the first are feather dusters and the second one Im not quite sure.

Thank you for the quick response. Are the feathers a good thing or a pest. And on the second one are you refering to the purple plant thing above the coralline algae.

The feather dusters are perfectly fine. Great diversity of life. Yes the second pic above the coralline.

Thank you again. I just didn't want to cause myself a headache later. By leaving it if they were bad.
