PLEASE HELP! Over flow is too LOUD-new tank

Good evening fellow reefers!! I am reaching out to you for ANY and ALL help! Today, I just set up my 75 gal reef aquarium. I absolutely love it and have been wanting one for so long. But after filling it and turning on the pump which I can't even hear, the over flow (which is an inky box) is sooooo LOUD. It's been running for 20-30 minutes and has given me a headache! It sounds like I'm sitting in a hot tub with the jets a roaring. It has 2 returns and then again the over flow, my pump is a Jebao DCT-6000. Any ball valves on the overflow pipes into your sump. Have you lowered the pumps power and raised it to see if things change?

yes, stepped the pump down to 10% all the way up to 100% and the only differences I noticed was the flow coming out of the returns. And no, I don't see a ball valve. I'll try to take a pic real quick and post it.

Oh I could just hug you!! Your idea worked. It is alot quieter, all I hear right now is the running water going down the plumping (YAY) so any ideas on quieting down, I'm all ears! But right now I'm so freaking happy I thought I was going to have give it up. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!

I'd give it a couple of days for the tubes to build up some slime which usually changes the flow dynamics then try to tune it.
Check out some of the build threads out there and see how they managed to set up the drain to be quiet or try a search on Durso which should do it.
Do post some pictures of your overflow and drains so we can have a better idea of what's wrong.
Running water sound in the tubes might be caused by slower flow where the tube is not full of water and water air mix going down gets noisy.

Glad I could help! The syphon needs air so it needs to pull it from somewhere. You can cut the flow up some now so that the water goes above the bulkhead some and that will take care of some of the other noise. And mine I can still hear the water running down it not terrible but nothing I can think to do
