Hi all,

I am worried that I may be dealing with an outbreak of sorts, but I am not sure exactly what I am looking at. I noticed last night that my Swissguard Basslet had a few white spots on one of it's pectoral fins, and on it's dorsal fin. This morning when I went to do some more digging as to what I could find, I noticed that there were some spots on my clowns as well. I have included some photos below, but it's really difficult to capture - I cannot get a photo of the Swissguard, the spots are tiny, maybe 0.5mm at the largest.

In terms of how they're acting, I have not seen anything out of the ordinary. Everything is eating, they are swimming fine, no heavy breathing, no aggression, etc. Just a happy looking community tank.

Looking forward to any information/potential resolution steps. I do not have a QT at the moment, but if I need to go to the store and buy a small tank and set this up I will do that if I must. This is a mixed reef, so unfortunately I don't believe I can dose directly into it.

These look like marks from a puncture wound from a spine as from rabbitfish, urchin or similar. Because pics are burry, it is a guess but can also be stings from an anemone.

Hi Vetteguy, appreciate the response.

I do not have any rabbitfish or urchins in the tank, nor anemones. There are a couple of hammers/torches, but I have never seen the clownfish get in fighting distance of them.

keep an eye on it. It should heal rather than get larger. If larger, Quarantine may be necessary with use of maracyn 2 or Ruby Rally pro in QT or in-tank.

Got it, appreciate the response.

Unfortunately I can't provide photos at the moment of the basslet that appears to have white spots on it... In the case of that fish, would you advise the same? Monitor and see if it progresses/gets worse, or pull it and QT with copper?

The only possible issue I've seen with the basslet aside from the dots is that my partner claims the color on it is getting washed out. I personally haven't noticed it, but I trust her feeling on the subject.
