This problem started at when a group of inverts died after an electrical incident led to live current and Cu levels elevated to ~0.20 ppm in my DT that has been described in a sperate thread. This may, or may not, be related.
Starting at the time of the live current and elevated Cu, 3 torches and 2 hammers, retracted significantly while others continued to thrive. One of the hammers has since regained health, the remaining hammer and one torch are maintaining steady is their poor state. The 2 head cotton candy torch continued to get worse. i moved it to an an area with a little more flow and light. The response was one head dissolved/gelled and the other head maintained. I have since moved it to a safer flow/light position near the frag rack where it did very well when first being moved to the tank 2 months ago. Attached is a photo of this torch and in the background is the 2nd suffering torch. Notice the filaments coming off the bad head in the foreground. This is the safe space I moved it to, moderate flow and about 140 par; the closest nem is 6 to 8" away. The previous location was not close to any other corals.
From what I am reading an immediate iodine dip would be suggested, but I do not have any iodine dips and cannot get one until the pet shops/LFS in the city open tomorrow. I do have my standard Revive dip, Boyd Chemiclean which was suggested by one of my local LFSs for euphyllia, plus general treatments like Ruby Reef Ralley and Hydroplex. The parameters are within my normal operating range, Salinity 33.9ppt, Ph 8.29, Alk 10.2, Temp 77.2-77.8 range through day and night, Ca 458, Mg 1407, OPP 295, nitrates 12, phosphates 0.08, and Cu between 0.02 and 0.20 (cannot tell with certainty due to checker issues).
What would you suggest as immediate action given what I have? Next, what do you suggest for longer term, say 2 to 3 days when I have access to other resources? Finally, what dip, or dips, should I have on hand to deal with any similar problems in the future?
