We have had are trachyphyllia for a few weeks now. First few days this thing open up so beautiful. After 3 days it’s been mostly closed up can hardly see any feeder tentacles come out. At first we thought it was the cleaner shrimp as it was his resting post pulled him after day 3 of staying closed. Still not the same as when we pick the trachyphyllia up. We have a 53 gallon marine land tank no par readings to share. Running 3 t5 bulbs close. It’s in the sand bed. Lower flow part of the tank.
Everything been very stable in a lps dominant tank
Nitrate 1-3
Phosphate 0.031
Calcium 420
Alkalinity 8.0
Nitrite and ammonia 0

The last photo was taken last night. But does not get much bigger then that.

Make sure you hand feed that cleaner shrimp, often. I had one eat the mouth right out of a welso,to get the piece of raw scallop I fed it.. that lead to the death of that coral.

I feed reef roids once a week I have seen Lrs fish frenzy land on it as well with no fish picking at it. Cleaner shrimp is gone to my 125 gallon tanks sump until I get rid of it. My tusk in there would eat him

I run my lights one t5 kicks on at ten then eleven the other 2 kick on. Then 9pm two shut off the. All lights off at 10pm. The room does get some natural sunlight but not directly on it. Try a black sheet this morning to cut down on ambient light

I currently have three trachys that are doing really well at 8.5 dkh (slightly higher than yours). What's your water temperature and pH? Otherwise, the other parameters look fine.

I know most will say not to move corals often as it takes time for them to acclimate, but I like to rotate them 180° once in awhile. You might be surprised.

Temp is 77.5. It has a range of 77 to 78 on the brs heater controller. Ph is normally at 8.2. I run a refug light when display lights are off. I run a ufo 600watt led grow light. Cheeto goes crazy in my sump. Also does 2ml of amino acid from bright well every day. Witch has brought back to life many corals from bleaching in my 125 tank to thriving in 53 gallon tank 75 gallon system

I was running gfo and carbon in a dual reactor. Shut it down last night thinking it’s doing to good of a job with fuge now thriving tanks about 3 months old. Had a pound of marine pure balls that where 6 months soaking in my other sump. For a new tank. No parameters have changed. I test daily at 9pm the bulbs going out are my timer.

My bet is on the GFO, I have had multiple tanks and not one has reacted well to the use of that stuff, and def no need to be using it if your P is only .03! Only time I use that stuff is if my P gets to .4 or higher( .1 is my target ) which only seemed to happen on a new tank setup.. now that they are mature it regulates itself.

how close is that torch? i would check at night for sweepers!
feed your shrimp right before you feed trachy.

Your water param seem fine.maybe raise the alk to 9.5 10.. You could also give it an a kent lugol's iodide dip. for 10 to 15 min.. Any skeleton exposed?

Update I dipped my trachyphyllia tonight to help any tissues issues if any. Moved the torch to be safe. Here’s some update photos. Ether I fail or this thing thrives. Worst case I fail and someone else can learn from my expensive mistake
Let’s take brs approach to this and share are faults as wells as are successes. Also put the guy back 180 how it was before in the tank

Still no update in 3 years huh? I'm having issues with my Trachy and I was hoping I'd find the resolution
