Hey Everyone, I am a fairly new reefer and I have a 155 gallon bow front tank. I have had it running for 3-4 months and I’m having an algae issue. I got the sand used because I was in a pinch and trying to get tank up and running quickly. My most recent water parameters are:
Nitrate: 5
Phosphate: .14
dKh: 7.7
I just did a 30% water change yesterday.
This algae seems to be growing in clumps with always seems to be a small root system and it’s only growing in the sand bed.
Does anyone know what type of algae this is or have any experience with this issue as well as how to treat it and get rid of it?
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hair algae..Your tank is young and cycling its normal. add some beneficial bacteria vibrant is good. Your dkh is low i keep mine @ 8.5. & 1.026 ppm salinity. Get some tangs they will eat your algae and get a good clean up crew and your algae will clear UP

It is some kind of turf algae. Need a better photo to identify it.

I would not use any chemicals on the tank, but get some natural clean up crew. You can always add chemicals later. Read the link in my signature about Vibrant before you use it - it is not what they claim it to be. If you want to use bacteria, then there are real bacteria products with shelf lives and stuff out there.
