Here is the list I came up with…this tank is for my daughter so these are her favorites from the master list of size appropriate, community type, reef friendly fish.

Which grouping would you choose?

45g aio tank (36x15x16 display)

-Flame Angel

-Fiji Blue/Green Chromis (1/3/5)

-Ocellaris (1/2)

-Yellow Watchman Goby/Pearly Yellowhead Jawfish

-Midas Blenny

-Firefish purple/Exquisite Firefish/Orchid

Dottyback/Purple Dottyback

-Fathead sunburst Anthias

-Earmuff Wrasse

-Mandarin/Lawnmower Blenny

-Skunk Cleaner Shrimp

Do you have a photo of your tank? It’s hard to go off of what fish when some of these have very specific requirements.

lawnmower and midas blenny might not get along in a tank that size. I also think that's too many fish.
This is the possible list that we want to pare down from to 4-6 fish total. I grouped similar fish together as we would only choose one from each of the groupings.

If I were you I'd open up the rockscape a bit, create more caves/alcoves (at least a couple of which are fully hidden from view). This will give fish more places to hide and swim through, which counterintuitively will cause them to be out in the open more often since they know they have somewhere to retreat to if needed.

it seems like you're aware of stocking restrictions for tank size, and barring that, it's really your preference what you stock with! I personally love flame angels, clowns and cleaner shrimps so can heartily recommend those.

Flame angels move around a lot and can be quite aggressive. I would skip this in a 45 unless there's very few other fish. Also dottybacks can be quite nasty too. I would get a gramma instead.
