after this testing, i would think I am dealing with Cyano and not dinos. Thoughts??

Run blue at 15% during the treatment period. After treatment, I ran .5ml per 10 gallons for another two weeks with normail lights and Never saw dino again

Well, I did some testing today based on the following thread on Dinos.

I took 6 samples from my display tank, two from three different areas and ran two separate tests.

Test 1, as outlined in the linked thread, was a peroxide test. Cyano bubbles while dinos do not.

Which dino did you test?

I don't see how I could have Dinos and Cyano. Those seem counterintuitive. I thought Dinos were caused whern Nitrates and phosphates zeroed out, and Cyano was caused by excess nutrients.

The main source for dinoflagellates growth is light. Dinoflagellates are photosynthetic which means they grow and multiply using a light source. The reason why they are so hard to get rid of in reef tanks is because of our corals; they also need light. Dinoflagellates quickly overrun the surface in your aquarium because there is no specific ecosystem for them to survive. Depending on the conditions, dinoflagellates can multiply up to a million cells in one milliliter of water in just a short period of time. The bigger the population, a higher chance that it will make the water toxic and can kill other life form inside your tank.

Aside from the dinos, I also see some stringy cyano and green hair algae. Start with @vetteguy53081 suggestions.
I'd still recommend getting your N&P up a bit, but not sure how it will affect his solution.

Dinos are very resilient because it can live without eating anything for a long time unlike any other life forms like algae.
Nutrients are present in your tank which gives energy to fish and plants. Even if your tank lacks nutrients, dinos can still survive. It is possible for your tank to have dinos if the nitrates and phosphates level in your aquarium are close to zero.

Will the peroxide treatment kill cyano off as well?

will peroxide harm any corals or inhabitants? I thought cleaner shrimp would be harmed by peroxide.

Can this be done so closely to dosing fluconazone? And can it be done without the bottle bacteria? I don’t have any to dose

Ok, any help here would be great.

I did a large water change Sunday, and things look good right now.
I am planning on reducing my lighting to 15% starting tomorrow and running 5 days of low light with peroxide.

My questions:

1. Do I have to have bottle bacteria for this to work?
2. do I need to cover the sides of the tank to block out any extra light?
3. I run AI lights, do I just keep the Blue at 15% or all blue channels and UV?
4. how slowly can I ramp lights back up after 5 days?

Started peroxide treatment last night. Has anyone notice pH fluctuations with peroxide treatment?

my pH is usually pretty linear up and down through a 24 hour period; raising during the day and dropping overnight. But I’ve never had these rapid ups and downs before.
