I have a 55 gallon saltwater and just a week ago I noticed one of my blue damsels has ich. Then a few days latter I noticed these little tanish/white worms on the inside of the tank. is this related to the ich? I am treating the tank for ich. Are the little worms ok? I have two blue damsels and two ocilarious clown fish. The fish like to eat the little worms off the sides of the tank. please help.

First off welcome aboard R2R. The small worms are probably just planaria and not a threat or related to the Ich outbreak directly. What is your treatment regiment for Ich and what are your water perameters currently? Is this a Reeftank, Fish only or FOWLR (Fish Only With Live Rock) ??? Maybe we can help you out with a lil more info.

Cheers, Todd

Thanks. It is a FOWLR tank. The salt level is 1.024, ammonia .25 ppm, ph 8.2, nitrite is .25 ppm, and the nitrate is 5 ppm. I am using Coppersafe to treat the ich. Most of the ich has disappeared from the blue damsel. Just a little spot remains on the dorsal fin. Thanks again!

And it seems like your tank is still cycling, ammonia and nitrites should be zero, even at those levels they are toxic to fish and can kill them! Your fish are probably stressed which probably brought on the ich. First things first I suggest a big water change (50-90%) to get the ammonia and nitrites down.
