Hello

I am new to the hobby and have a new 28 gallon jbj LED. I have about 30 lbs live rock, 30 lbs live sand, and an aquamax HOB-1 skimmer.

As far as stock, I have about 25 snails (10 new nerites, 10 new cerinths, and 5 old bumblebees). For fish, I have a fire fish, a yellow tail damsel, and 2 clowns.

I noticed a few white dots on my rocks and posted on the forum as to what they could be and someone stated nerite snail eggs. With that information, I tried to confirm this and am pretty sure it is as I have a bunch of new ones today on the back wall of my tank and they seem to follow the nerites. I know they are not cerinth eggs as they are individual and much larger.

QUESTIONS:

1) I am not in the hobby to breed snails, so don't want to invest in a lot of extra stuff, but it would be cool if the eggs developed into maturity. What are the chances the eggs will hatch and mature without being eaten by fish, bumblebee snail, or caught in the filter or skimmer?

2) If so, should I add anything to my water? I add a 2 part calcium and alkalinity buffer already but that is about it.

3) If so, how long till the eggs hatch and how long till the snails develop shells?

Thanks, any help is appreciated.

I would just let nature run its course if you want to try to raise them I found this on another site.

carefully put them in a floaty, I bought one and it just floats in the tank so there's water echange and air but the fish can't eat them, when they just freshly hatch the fish will eat them before they can get away. I leave them in there and once they hatch they climb out on their own, I also feed the ones that stay at the same time as I spot feed my anemones.

Thanks for the response.

1) Could I get the link to that site you mentioned?
2) Do you have a link to the "floatie" you mentioned?
3) How long do they take to hatch usually?
4) How do I get the eggs off the rock / wall and onto the floatie?

Thanks again for all of the advice.

Adam
