I have a Red Sea 350 with 60lbs of live sand plus 60lbs of dry rock. I started my cycle 13 days ago and it has a 4oz bottle of turbostart.

the tank reads no ammonia and >1 nitrite.

my question is if there is a way to dilute the Red Sea nitrite test so that I can track the nitrites to make sure they are going down?

This is the one test kit i have never used.... I never did find a need to test Nitrite other than cycling. And even when i'm cycling, I just go with the ammonia reading.

Not sure if you can dilute it for higher resolution but i would take pictures and compare the colors.

Do you have a Nitrate test kit? If so, throw the Nitrite one in the trash. If Nitrates are coming up, Nitrites are going down. I have never owned an ammonia or Nitrite test and never will. Once I see Nitrates, I know the cycle is done.

I'm sure you have read many posts (about 14k... 14 thousand) on cycling,

From your original post I suggest you read these as so many variables.

Your aquarium is not cycled

I would agree with u on it definitely not being cycled. From what I’ve seen nitrates don’t matter until nitrites are at 0. I have tested my nitrate and it’s at ~80. I’ll give it another week and see if nitrite is at a readable level.
