Please help with vortech mp10w

Hi,

I recently purchased a used mp10w and its worked when I bought it out of the seller tank. When I install into my tank, the whole wet side is spinning like crazy but not the fan inside the wet side. I had the dry side power cord upright and taped in the tank.
Can someone please help me what to do?

Can you turn the propeller with your finger? (turn it off first)

I think when you install the mp10 wet side and dry side does not line up correctly it will mess up the blade and magnet of wetside and will not work anymore. You will most like need a new wetside. I know this bcuz I just did that to my mp40 and had to get a new wetside for it to work.

In the past when I had the same problem, I had to rebuild the wetside.

Nope, you don't have to buy a new one... they sell rebuild kits from Ecotech that are relatively cheap (I think the rebuild kit for my MP40 was only about $20). It's not definitely the solution to your problem, but that's what I had to do when I had the same problem. The impeller may just have something stuck in it or it may just need to be cleaned. I'd try soaking your wetside in vinegar overnight to make sure that it doesn't have any calcium deposits binding it up.

Thank you all for such a wonderful advised. I took the wet side apart and did a little tlc. Put it back in and it's works like a charm. Wow, did learn something great today

every other week, I soak my wet side in vinegar for 15-20 minutes then give it a good cleaning. never have any issues.
