I have noticed that my trumpet and Hammer coral's have not been happy lately. I was looking around, and it seems that what I thought were new growth (I am 10 months into 1st tank) are not. I recently realized they are slowly moving. Can anybody help me identify these? Are they bad, and if so, how do I get rid of them?? Thanks in advance!

I had just fed, so please disregard the white specs in the picture. I am speaking of what is attached to the coral itself...

Thanks!

Vertmid snails, filter feeder. Carefully scrape them off as close to their base as possible. Do not touch with your hands as they are very hard/sharp. Not real dangerous but can become bothersome both in numbers and by the way they feed.

Vermitid Snail
Harmless

VERMITID SNAILS The vermitid snail is yet another critter that lives in a tube. These filter feed by throwing out a mucous "net" to catch food. Most of the time, you won't see the worm but will be wondering what the "spiderwebs" in your tank are. Here's your culprit. They are harmless but can irritate corals if their nets are too close.
