i've hadd my bubble gum monster chalice from a booger size frag about a few months back it has started to recied slowly i moved it to the sand bed with some flow. it was in MED flow directly about a week ago same thing with my miami hurricane chalice its down to 4 eyes i dont no what to do ive just started chalices about 3 months ago, all my other chalices are fine. my levels are correct where they should be at. Does anyone no anything i should do to stop the recieding should i dip them again? i dipped them 2 weeks ago. Its starting up again.

what flow should i have them under? and there under LED lights a 25" deep tank. Thank you so much guys.

These are both my first frags ive gotten any comments will be much appreciated.

Before this is a very recent shot a few weeks ago. was mid tank growing like a charm with MED flow from wp25 it was accross the tank not directly on it.

The bubblegum looks like it could have been too close to another coral that was killing it. The second one had started receding in the pic from two weeks ago. It wouldn't hurt to re-dip them. Did you check your alk? I have my bubblegum monster in med to med/hi flow.

the bubble gum was just near all the chalices that were shown. and some zoas. inless my chalices started fighting but then my 3g mummy eye would of been involved and nothing is wrong with him. nor my pink and green one or my WWC toxic pie.

so im a bit confused. and my watermellon chalices are perfect and growing. just these 2. im scared i dont want to loose them cause they were my first chalices :/

do you think a dip would do the trick ? or stress them furthur? idk what to do.!!!! going crazy~

Get the Lugols Iodine solution and dip them for about 15 minutes. I am having the same problem with a couple of chalices in my system. I dipped them yesterday and continue to do so every couple of days until they are better

I'm afraid to suggest anything because I don't want you to lose them either!

Yes it is happening to me on a couple of chalices.... I am dipping as we speak...LOL... It could be anything, but dipping in lugols is what I would recommend because that is what I am doing also. The iodine will help clean the chalice of any bacteria that can be causing it to recede. Infections on chalices is very common, if it was scraped or anything can cause that to happen.

I think it definitely needs to be dipped in an iodine solution. The edges appear infected and without dipping I think it will continue to recede. Yes dipping will be harsh but I think its the best option. I had something similar happen for no apparent reason. I was able to save a couple eyes. It took about 6 months for it to get settled again and back into grow mode.

alright i guess i have to go get the solution to start this process. :/ it just started to take off growing too :/ this is a bummer.

i had this happened to my chalices too...just wanna ask how are your euphyllias?like hammers frogspawns? i ask because same thing happened on a few of my chalices and my euphyllias and neon green candy cane....acans are fine so it was really confusing and frustrating...i tried dipping with melafix and it somewhat slowed and stopped the recession but it was there...its like its some type of bacterial issues..

whats your salinity,,,i had low salinity 1.023 when it was happening and bumped it up to 1.025-26...
my parameters were spot on although my alk was a bit low but i managed to get it where i want it to be...

mine was like receding and flesh is kind of peeling or bailing out,,,but colors are there and tentacles are out and eating but it just keeps on receding so it was really frustrating....it lasted for about 1-2 months,,,and with that amount of time i lost bazooka joe frag, pink ******* and a few no name chalices...(lost a few heads of hammers, frogspawns)

also it happened when i was in my 2nd bag of salt...so i dont know if i had a batch of bad salt cause when i used the 3rd bag everything starts recovering and growing flesh...but i did really monitor my parameters and was doing tests every other day...so everything went normal and stable and i still didnt know whats the exact cause...i was dipping every other day with melafix though and it helped in slowing down the recession until i finally was able to get everything stable...i even checked for stray voltage but there was none

hope u get everything figure out....i know it is very stressful but hang in there...dip and dip...i tried everything but didnt tried iodine dip...only melafix seems to have helped on mine

Sorry I didn't see this till right now.... Take some of your water out, I would say about a quart or 1.5 quarts.... Put about two drops in and swish it around a little... Take the chalices and let thin sit in there for 10-15 minutes and then put them back in your tank

i am having the same problem with all my lps I have been fighting it for months now but nothing seems to help i have dipped corals with this problem and they seem to be better for a day or two but soon after go back to receding. All my parameters are perfect and i am completely stumped on what is happening it has gotten so bad that i am officially out of lps all tougher so if you make any discovery's shoot me a heads up good luck

I sure will, im going to be dipping Both of them tomorrow , Thank you guys for the help i will keep you all posted. i just lost another eye on both chalices. :/ i hope they get better>! >.<

Might want to check Alk and Calcium against another test kit. I was having a small problem with one of my chalices and my levels were low.

I wouldn't run around dipping everything as this has no proof it works in this case ,but could make it worse. One of two thing actually do work 1st take bone scissors and gently cut the dead skeleton area back to the healthy tissue , 2nd would be do nothing and let it heal on its own. I have 98% success with option #1. There are some bad stuff chalice can catch. That nothing will help. I lost 12 very nice chalice to some type of red bacteria that turned the skeleton a reddish color from under the tissue kinda like toe nail fungi or something. I still don't know what it was but two other people I know got it the same time because we all bought a chalice from the same guy out of the same tank.
