Can somebody tell me what's happening to my live rock? I don't know what this dark green stuff is but I've tried scraping it off the rocks an it doesn't come off.

Algae seems to out competing Coraline. Do you have any Tangs?

I'm not seeing anything alarming. Are you referring to the darker colors and greenish brown coloration? Quite often it can be the precursor to corraline coming in.

Usually if it doesn't scrape off, then it is an encrustations of some kind and is not a problem, as long as it's not ugly. The wonderful thing about live rock, in a natural reef aquarium, is that as time goes by, more and more corals, and other rock growing animals keep showing up. Who knows, there might be something growing on there that will be worth a lot of money. LOL

I agree with the others, no need to panic yet. I will say though that it is something I haven't seen yet, if it is coralline please keep posting pictures of it as it progresses.

My first question would be, where are nutrient levels at (phosphates and nitrates) my second question would be how old is the system?

This says it best:

https://www.reefcleaners.org/coralline

...Coralline comes in many shades and colors, and one of the fastest growing encrusting coralline species likely to be encountered in aquaria are green in color and may make you think you have a type of nuisance algae growing on your rocks. You can distinguish green coralline algae from film algae by testing its hardness, coralline should not come off easily when toothbrushed. Fast growing green coralline algae usually takes up residence on bare rock, and is often later engulfed by epiphytic coralline algae that have "better coloring" like reds, pinks and purples...
