I found this worm while transferring rock from one tank to another. It was under the rock and dove into the sand when I lifted it.

Bristle worm I suppose ? I’ve taken back the rock that I had already put in my DT a few minutes before and given it a shake in a bucket of water. I also used a turkey baster to dislodge whatever from the crevices. I found a few more, most very small.

I did the same for 2 other rocks I had to transfer. BUT…. one rock was transferred 5-6 weeks ago into my DT and it surely had some too. So now whatever this is must also be in my new display tank.

I had only dry rock when I started the tank and I dipped all corals but the first one I bought (I didn’t know better). So how did these get in my tank ?

And most importantly, what should I do now to rid my DT of them ?

Thank you !

+1 to bristle worm. you can add any bristle worm eater to your tank like:

bumble bee snails (reportedly), coral banded shrimp, arrow crab, 6line wrasse, coris wrasse, malanurus wrasse, flame/long nose hawkfish all eat them.

you can also get a worm trap and get them out that way as well.

Of all those fish, is there one that is really peaceful and won’t bother the inverts and shrimps ?

my yellow coris wrasse has been peaceful. however, he did eat a newly added pistol shrimp. if your concern is your inverts, i suggest adding bumble bee snails, an arrow crab, or a coral banded shrimp.
