Please help ID this. I've noticed it for a while now and it seems to be growing and suffocating my Zoas. It started as a little patch on the front of the rock and now it covers most of the rock and surrounds the Zoa colonies. What it is and how do I get rid of it? Thanks.

It’s really hard to tell much from that pic but it sounds like an aggressive sponge. If so, you can just cut and peel it off.

Sponge.

Sorry for the late pictures. I've gotten new photos and circled it. It looks like some sort of polyps. When the lights are out it seems to disappear. When the lights are on, it extends out and covers the rock and seems to be encroaching on to the Zoas next to it. What is this and how do I get rid of it. Thanks.

It would be easier to ID under white lights but they kind of look like blue clove polyps, some call them purple cloves. The only other thing that comes to mind are daisy polyps. Hopefully that helps.

Thanks for your reply. It does look like some sort of clove polyps. I've did a search on how to remove them and it seems bleak. I guess there are a few options 1) tuxedo urchin 2) manual removal 3) Fenbendazole. The third option seems intriguing . Would Fenbendazole have any bad effect on my LPS (scolys, goniopora, torch and zoas)? thanks
