Please ID these 2 gray mushroom shaped objects in center of pic, just left of the Zoas. It's a slow grower, but not very pleasing to the eye.
Friend or foe? Let it be, or eliminate?
Got Sponge??? When is too many?

Ball sponges, harmless.

I think he might be referring to those pinkish/tan spots to the very left of the zoanthid polyp, not the white balls all over the rocks.

I think he is referring to the thing directly to the left of the lower polyp

Well I can't make it out enough for a definitive. Out on a limb I would say Corallimorph vs Paly or Zoanthid, but that is just a guess.
With regard to sponges it's my experience that populations wax and wane as a tank ages. With the exception of liver sponges I never had a sponge type get out hand or invasive.

Thanks for the reply, and yes, I did mean the gray blotches. They are very slow growers. Very hard to the touch. No extensions of any type. Seems to be encrusting. These were half the size a year ago.
It seems Coraline algae is encrusting to the left side.
