Hi, I have this royal gramma for almost a year and about 6 months ago it developed like a splotchy white color on his body. Hes in qt now since I tore my tank down a month ago. He is eating and very active. All other fish in the same qt r doing fine no spots. I want to know if should put him back in my DT when its cycles.
See attached picture .

Is he being bullied, maybe? Looks like a nice chunk out of his tail... fish can lose color when they are stressed. Has he been treated with any medications while in QT?

I don't exactly know about the white splotchy color, but that's what happened to mine also. I wouldn't worry about it since he's eating and active, let it be and monitor it for a while. You may do harm if you mess around with it. Best thing to do is monitor it and see what it does...

I had a separator in the same tank with a clown trigger the trigger broke through had but him. But that was just yesterday he had this white spots for months

He has been treated with metro-furan2-kenoplex for 10 days so far and b4 that he was on copper for 14 days. I'm not so concerned about the actual disease. I dont want to add him back to my DT and potentially infect my entire tank with something

And he had the white-blotchy look before any medications? Did you feed the metro as well or just into the water column? Have you seen any white-stringy poop?

Another possibility not yet covered would be flukes, has he received a freshwater dip at all to check for flukes? I think that would be a good “next step” if not.

If he was in therapeutic copper for 14 days... and then transferred to another tank, then ich and velvet would be highly unlikely...and don’t usually look like this. Brook would be a possibility, but again this doesn’t really look brook and you’ve treated with metroplex which should cover that. Infection is another possibility that should have also been covered with your previous treatments.

So that leaves us with general stress, poor diet, internal parasites, and/or flukes.

No stringy poo I did a 5 min FW bath and no flukes. I'm at a total loss. His behavior is fine hes not lethargic or breathing fast. He eats like a pig and swims normally. I got him under a inch and hes prob closet to 3 inches now. He had this same white blotchy stuff for almost 6 months.

Hm... and it started in your prior DT? I wonder if he just scratched himself up darting around the rockwork. I think at this point I wouldn’t be too worried about him being “contagious”, just maybe try to up his nutrition with some good vitamins and a variety of foods and keep an eye on it.
