This is such a great thread! Anytime I have set up a new tank I always refer to as many photos of other rock scapes for inspiration and ideas. Good luck to the OP! Here's my most recent 125 set up just done a few months ago! 0207180037_HDR.jpg 1017172043_HDR_zpswcy7wlrl.jpg

I love these. I saved them to my phone. I figured I'd share for whomever else wants inspiration, or just appreciates scapes as much as me.

I have been doing the same thing @Brynn. Looks like we have similar tastes. Islands and minimalistic. Good luck!

The way the sun hits in the winter makes it hard to get good pictures without glare but they show the rockscape. This is all Real Reef rock except one piece of old Tonga shelf. I laid it all out on a table, used a band saw to cut pieces (to create stable flat bases and to get pieces to fit together). I also drilled holes and used acrylic rods to lend support — then glued it all up using two-part epoxy for large joints and crazy glue gel for smaller connections. It’s been very stable for years now and has lots of mounting points.

In my opinon the way that light casts into your tanm is worth the inconvenience. That is the reflection of your light w/ natural light correct? Or do you have a sunrise setting? Lol, or are my eyes interpreting things.

Here’s one from when I was setting it up. The rockscape hasn’t changed from this.

My heart dropped to see you have no build thread. Your tanks are stunning. You should for hobby newbies. :D

first 29g hardscape...

55g scape day after it settled... the rock from the 29g was used when upgraded

Your substrate glows. What is the brand?.

You’re seeing it correctly. The natural sunlight hits from a very low angle and adds some interesting highlights but most of the illumination is coming from my AI Hydras.

It’s in the works. I’ve always been disappointed to read a build thread and find that it’s not complete. I guess it’s like starting to binge a new tv show and then realizing there are only a few episodes in the can. So I always figured I’d wait until the tank is done and then post all the pics along the way. The problem is I’m never done and keep changing things. But I guess it’s done enough and time to get the build thread up. Stay tuned.

Is a build thread ever complete? There are always changes in the works. Post. Viewers can deal with it <g>

I'm going back through and looking at corals and placements for my tank coral map plan.

Awesome! Whenever I cringe at what Im spending, I remind myself this is the most expensive (and fun) piece of art I'll ever create. I'll regret rushing & not enjoying the journy.

My cement stuff was supposed to arrive last week. I guess I need to call. Excited to follow another woman! Have a good evening!

Hope Ill even get a few more posts. Few more square ones.

Here's what I came up with.
Couple of islands with a nice swim thru on the left and some good space for hiding/flow behind the scape. 50lbs of reefcleaners rock

No after pics because it's still cycling!
I like your top angle pic. I am starting a 200g (slowly) and it will be viewable from above as well as front and side. This is another dimension not everyone has to think about!
