As time goes by the more I suffer from CRS (Can't Remember Stuff)... :)

So with that, I've got a new system ready to receive rock tomorrow...all filtration, lighting, etc. is a go.

Currently 0 bio-load

The skimmer is new out of the box Reef Octopus 150-INT...and it is pushing micro bubbles into the sump like there is no tomorrow!!!

If I remember correctly, the micro bubbles will diminish over time as the skimmer breaks in and gets a slime coat, so to speak.

Is this correct?

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this.

I'm sorry just noticed you said you had 0 bio load, just in case you're just starting up, I pulled this from some info from my previous searches and it recommended among other things not to use skimmer yet, :
Do not use any lights over your aquarium during the cycle. There's no reason to use any lighting for the first month, and if you choose to ignore this advice you'll likely see algae taking hold. No filtration should be used during the cycle. No skimmer, no carbon, no GFO, no pads to trap particulates. Just maintain circulation and temperature around 78°F. Do not add a clean up crew of critters, it's too soon.

I appreciate your comments...yes a new system after a 10 year break from the hobby.

It seems there is differing thoughts on light and filtration equipment during the first few weeks of a tanks life.

If there is no life on the rock to save, then I'll go with no lights and if there is, then I'll use a very low light setting for only a couple hours a day.

I believe I will use a filter sock to capture particulates and possibly the skimmer if there appears to be some die off on the rock.

Thanks again!
